Trainings of Volunteer Fire Rescue Groups in Armenia

In March 2021 a complete set of professional trainings was organized for the Volunteer Fire Rescue Groups (VFRG) of Mets Parni and Garni municipalities.  Each group includes 40 volunteers who have been selected according to strict criteria defined in the Volunteer Development Plan specifically drafted for Armenia.

The trainings were organized jointly by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, the Armenian Red Cross Society and the Heads of Municipality.

The complete trainings’ set includes:

  • Firefighting (30 hours) delivered by the MES-A
  • Search & Rescue (18hours) delivered by the MES-A
  • First Aid (FA) (13hours) delivered by the ARCS
  • Psychological First Aid (PFA) (10 hours) delivered by the ARCS

Once officially activated the members of Volunteer Fire Rescue Groups (VFRG) should:

  • respond to emergencies when alerted and their private circumstances allow it at the very moment of the alert, either under local command or in support and under the command of MES fire and rescue forces
  • participate in the required training and briefing activities.
  • receive the necessary personal equipment and use and maintain it carefully.
  • participate and contribute to regular volunteer activities.
  • support additional public activities of the volunteer group in areas as awareness raising for the population, fund raising for the volunteer group.
  • accept individual tasks or responsibilities for keeping the group, the station, and the equipment functional.
  • contribute to the reporting of all activities to MES and local authorities.
