Practical trainings for Joint Volunteer Teams in Georgia

Practical trainings for the joint volunteer teams of Borjomi and Akhaltsikhe municipalities were organized by the Emergency Management Services of Georgia and the Georgia Red Cross Society on 7-10th of April 2022.

The fieldwork included hands-on exercises and was led by instructors from the EMS-G Fire and Rescue Department.

Two-day training was conducted for Borjomi volunteer team and two-day training for Akhaltsikhe volunteer team.

The training included general information about the emergency management service and its role during emergencies; introduction to the professional fire rescue equipment and its capabilities;

Making mineralized strip during forest fires using mechanical tools and wetting with water backpacks, crossing fire hose, laying the trunk line to the hearths of the fire, etc…

The joint volunteer groups were trained jointly by the Emergency Management Services of Georgia and the Georgian Red Cross Society. They are considered as auxiliary groups for professional rescuers. They will further enhance emergency preparedness and rapid response at the local level in coordination with the Emergency Management Services and Georgian Red Cross Society.
