SVOL KICK OFF MEETING - Austria

The SVOL project kick off meeting took place in Vienna on 3rd, 4th and 5th of March in Vienna, Austria.

This kick off was hosted in the Austrian Red Cross Headquarter and involved 15 participants from the Armenian Red Cross Society, the Ministry of Emergency Situation of Armenia, the Georgia Red Cross Society, the Emergency Management Service of Georgia, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Resilience Advisers Network and the Austrian Red Cross.

The purpose of this meeting was to start the project in the best conditions, make first contact between partners of different involved countries, review of work plan and project’ objectives, presentations about AutRC and ECHO rules and regulations.

The meeting also included two specific presentations about civil protection and volunteering in Austria; the ‘’Austrian national Crisis and Disaster Management’’ by Mr Juergen HOEGL (AutRC consultant) and ‘’Motives for volunteering in Austria’’ by Ms Marielisa HOFF (AutRC).

On 4th of March a one day study visit was organized in three different locations:

- in a regional branch of the AutRC where participants were introduced to EMS facilities/vehicles and attended a presentation on the ‘’AutRC services on regional and district level’’ by Gerald Czech (AutRC, Head of Branch).

- in the voluntary fire brigade of Moedling with a presentation about the ‘’Austrian Voluntary Fire Service ‘’ by Mathias Seyfert (Austrian Fire Brigade Association).

-  in the voluntary fire brigade of Hinterbrühl with questions/answers with local volunteer firefighters.
