On 25-27th of October and 1-3rd of November the Georgian Red Cross Society organised Disaster Management, Psychosocial Support and First Aid trainings in Akhlatsikhe and Borjomi municipalities for the Joint Volunteer Teams established jointly by Emergency Management Services of Georgia (EMS-G) and the Georgian Red Cross Society (GRCS).

The 48 volunteers have been recruited in Borjomi and Akhaltsikhe cities and mainly from surrounding villages (Likani, Dviri, Daba Wagveri, Mugareti, Persa...).

The role of the volunteers is to act as auxiliary volunteers to EMS-G and GRCS in case of emergencies and disasters in the targeted municipalities. They can be alerted and deployed by either the Emergency Management Services of Georgia or the Georgian Red Cross Socities depending of type of emergency, always in close coordination with each other.
